Catherine, Princess of Wales, Suffering from Cancer, Appeared in Public After a Long Time at Wimbledon
LONDON (AP) – The Princess of Wales will make a rare public appearance this Sunday to watch the men’s final at Wimbledon, following the announcement that she has been diagnosed with cancer. Kensington Palace announced on Saturday that Prince William’s wife Kate will follow the fight between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in the Royal Box on Center Court.
However, Kate will not be able to watch the women’s final on Saturday. In this match, Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova will face each other. Wimbledon officials announced that All England Club President Deborah Jevans will present the cup to the winner of the women’s final.
Kate, who has been patron of the All England Club since 2016, took it upon herself to present the trophies to the winners after the men’s and women’s singles finals held at Wimbledon. But since his cancer diagnosis was announced in March, his only public appearances have been at King George III’s reception. It was to attend the ceremony held for Charles’ birthday.
Although it is stated that the Princess of Wales’s doctors especially want her to stay away from stressful places, Catherine says that this difference will be good for her. It is unknown who the Princess of Wales will support in the final match. According to some, this is not actually that important to her. Because both actors had actually seen each other in many advertising contracts. So it seems like it doesn’t really matter to the princess which one wins.
