Coco Gauff’s Achievements at a Young Age
Gauff was trained by Gerard Loglo at the Next Generation Tennis Academy in Delray Beach, Florida. At the age of 11, she was selected by Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou as part of the Champ ‘seed foundation and worked with him in Nice, France.
In October 2018, Gauff signed her first multi-year sponsorship contract with New Balance. In March 2019, he announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with the Italian food company Barilla, which also sponsors Roger Federer.
Gauff made her debut at an ITF 25K tournament, at Osprey in May 2018, and won her first professional match. At the age of 14, she won her first Junior Grand Slam Title at the French Open in June 2018. In September 2018, she won the Junior girls’ Doubles title at the US Open with her partner Caty McNally. Gauff ended 2018 in a good place by winning the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships in junior girls, aged 18 and under.
At the Miami Open, Gauff won her first WTA match against Caty McNally. She lost to Daria Kasatkina in the second round. In June 2019, she reached the main draw by reaching the third qualifying round at Wimbledon and became the youngest person to qualify for Wimbledon in the Open Era.
In her first Grand Slam tournament participation match, on July 1, 2019, she defeated Venus Williams, a five-time Wimbledon champion, in straight sets. With this win, she managed to equal the title of the youngest female tennis player to win a match at a grand slam tournament since Anna Kournikova, who achieved it at the 1996 US Open. It is also the second time Williams has been defeated in the first round of a tournament since her debut in 1997

Cori “Coco” Gauff was born on March 13, 2004. Gauff started playing tennis at the age of seven. She grew up in Atlanta but moved to Delray Beach, Florida, where she had better opportunities to play tennis. His father was an athlete who played basketball at Georgia State University and her mother was an athlete who became an athlete at Florida State University. She has two younger brothers. Gauff is home-schooled by her mother, a former teacher. Her father is her head coach. She is known by the nickname “Coco”.
