Jiri Lehecka is a Czech professional tennis player born October 3, 2002. His career-high ATP singles ranking was 133rd on February 28, 2022. His career-high doubles ranking was 605th on May 2, 2022. Lehecka is the 2020 Roland Garros junior singles champion. She also reached the final of the doubles category at the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters. In 2021, she made her first main-table appearance in an ATP tournament and reached the semi-finals in Hamburg. In the same year, she reached the doubles final at the Spanish Open.

Jiri Lehecka won his first ATP Tour title, beating Jack Draper in straight sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the Adelaide International. “It’s hard for me to say anything because it’s very emotional for me to win my first title here in Adelaide. I’m very excited and I want to congratulate Jack and his team because you guys are a joy to watch. I wish you all the best for the rest of the season, stay healthy and keep playing.”

Lehecka outscored Draper 34 to 24 on point shots as both players battled it out in their second ATP Tour title match. The Czech, the No. 7 seed, used his heavy forehand to drive rallies as the match progressed and also showed his mental toughness by holding serve for a 3-1, 0/40 break in the third set.

“I want to congratulate Jiri and his coach, you guys are doing great things. Career-high ranking, great tennis and your first title. I was trying to do the same today, but you deserved it and you were the better player today.”

Lehecka, the first Czech to win an ATP Tour title since Jiri Vesely in Pune in 2020, will move up nine places to a new career-high 23rd in the ATP Rankings to be announced on Monday. Victory in Adelaide will boost his confidence going into the Australian Open, where he reached his first major quarterfinal in 2023. The Czech will face Bernabe Zapata Miralles in his opening match in Melbourne, with Draper starting against Marcos Giron.
